How much fat in milk should a child drink?

Answer:
At age 1 when children move to cow's milk (or goat milk by pediatrician recommendations only) they should be drinking whole milk as it is 4% fat content. They need this for brain development.Due to high rates of child obesity the current recommendation is to move children to skim milk at age 2. They no longer need the milkfat and all the calcium is still in the skim. Please do not put kids on soy milk.it comes from a plant and lacks calcium that is needed for bone and muscle development. Good luck and keep kids moving!!
2% milk
As much as they want. Let your kid go play outside afterwards, and you won't have to worry about them gaining weight.
My daughter's pediatrician recommends 2% Milk. Whole milk has too much fat and anything less than 2% doesn't have all the nutrients that children need.
It depends on the childs age. If the child is between 1-2 you should give them a whole milk. They need the extra fat to support brain development. From the age of 2 and up the less fat the better. My nutritionist reccomended started at 2 % and then slowly moving down to skim. My kids now drink ultra skim and they are very healthy and don't have all the extra fat to worry about.
up to the age of seven a child can actually drink as much fresh/ full milk as he wants. at seven years of age,if the child is under weight continue fresh/ full milk. If at seven, the child is over weight, try low fat milk but continue drinking milk.
children when small should be drinking whole milk..as they get older you can switch to like 2%
yeah but what does child prefer? some people can taste a difference in whole and low fat/2%. i think a nomal healthy active kid can hanlde the extra fat and being old school, i want kids drinking all the milk they can.
