How much protein should I take a day to get bigger?

I am 16 years old, 5'11, 140 lbs. Now I am taking in 90-100 grams of protein everday and working out every other day. Is this enough to gain some weight?
Answer:
to gain muscle you should take in anywhere from 1 to 3g of protein per pound of bodyweight. so for you i would say start off with trying to consume 140g per day spaced out into five or six meals a protien shake can count as a meal, throw some creatine in there and hit the free weights exclusively and you should grow like an unwanted weed
That is kind of minimal. Have some protein snacks throughout the day, every few hours if you can. Not much, but something. Exercise uses calories, so don't overdo it. Snack on fruit, too.I'm 6', 150, 54 years old.
That is a decent amount, but...Ultimately you should try to consume about 1 gram of protein per 1 pound of body to really put on some muscle mass. So up your intake a little. I would say eat the same way you are now just throw a protein shake in there somewhere during the day. Usually two scoops of a good whey protein will have around 40 grams, exactly what you are looking for. Also, you should be taking a multivitamin -- I know vitamins are not known as the actual muscle-builders, however; they provide your body with energy to workout, they also help cultivate muscle growth and stop soreness, etc...What does workout look like? If you really want to put on muscle mass at your age you need to throw out most isolation exercises -- focus on COMPOUND MOVEMENTS (presses, rows, squats, deadlifts, and olympic lifts). For a beginner, this will put on muscle the fastest -- I know from experience.Check these out on vitamins and the whey protein which I am currently using --

Are you tring to gain weight, or are you trying to build muscle mass? Two very differnt things. Just gaining weight you can take as much protien as you takes, plus upping your fruits (healthy calories). If you are building musclemass, that is just as much vita, mineral consumption as it is protein. For you body to conver the injested protien into muscle you need calories, and everything healty. Also, you want to be doing the right type of lifting. Not all weights are created equal. Believe it or not, walking will also help, you can jog if you want, but walking build muscle in places on yoru lower body that lifting was create. Running you are using different muscles than you do walking and jogging.
Take a look at the athletes at your school. Do they workout every other day? Do you suppose you're going to look like them if you work out half as much?
